Chapter 2:
The Central Sports Stadium was divided into three levels. From the second level, Luo Tang could clearly hear the ongoing raffle activity below. Just as she finished speaking, the host's countdown, "Three, two, one," echoed up to where she was.
Then, amidst the clamor and applause, some lucky person was chosen.
Su Yan looked at the person in front of him, her head slightly bowed, her face screaming, "I regret so much."
With Wang Lin's call about the "fan who furiously spent 200,000" preceding this and her "sending planes" afterward, it wasn't hard for Su Yan to connect the two.
Su Yan's eyelashes drooped slightly, and the corners of his mouth twitched, evoking a feeling of ironic amusement.
He hummed lightly as if oblivious to her embarrassment, agreeing quite naturally.
At their equal height, his gaze naturally fell on her legs as he looked down.
There was no light on the second floor.
The faint light glowed on Luo Tang, and her snow-white skirt lay a mess on the smooth marble floor.
Her legs were snow-white, but her ankle was visibly red and swollen, standing out starkly in contrast. A glance was enough to tell that one of her ankles was badly swollen.
With the air conditioning set so low, sitting here must be cold.
Su Yan's eyebrows furrowed imperceptibly, then relaxed again after a few seconds, and he asked bluntly, "How did you get hurt?"
"..."
Luo Tang thought: How? I was trampled in a stampede.
"I'm not good at walking in high heels, so I accidentally twisted my ankle." Princess Luo, who had been receiving her Queen mother-sama's hands-on instruction in wearing high heels since middle school, lied with a straight face.
"Okay." Su Yan raised his eyes to meet hers again. "Can you walk?"
Luo Tang immediately shook her head, "Can’t."
The moment she finished speaking, an image of a popular internet meme flashed in her mind: [Your cutie has fallen and needs to be kissed and hugged to get up.jpg]
Luo Tang imagined certain scenarios, and her face suddenly heated up.
Fortunately, Su Yan didn’t notice.
He nodded, his voice calm, "Wait for me a moment." After saying that, he propped his elbows on his knees and swiftly rose, his tall figure merging into the shadows.
Five minutes later.
Luo Tang saw on the livestream that Su Yan had returned to the stage. He took pictures and signed autographs with the lucky audience member, thanked everyone again, and the fans sang a birthday song for him, bringing the birthday party to a successful close.
Sitting in a corner on the second floor, Luo Tang sang along with vigor, even though she wasn't in the audience.
Then, the day's protagonist reappeared in front of her. His attire hadn't changed, but now he was holding a jacket.
Luo Tang, slumped against the wall, immediately straightened up and uncontrollably called out his name, "Su Yan!"
"..."
Su Yan didn't respond.
Without a word, he walked to her side, the suit jacket in his hand unfolded and spread directly on her legs, tightly covering the part above and below her knees. Then he bent down, closing the distance between them, and Luo Tang smelled a faint fragrance.
Anticipating what was going to happen next, her heart thumped so hard that her chest ached.
Luo Tang blinked, feeling his arm go around her back. It seemed...he was about to pick her up.
But he stopped.
Su Yan's voice lowered, slightly hoarse, "Is this okay?"
"..."
He was asking for her consent.
Luo Tang was wrapped up in his light and good-smelling scent. When her ears picked up the words, it was as if an electric current had traveled from the top of her head to the nerve endings in every part of her body.
Of! Course! It's! Okay!!!
—She roared inwardly.
But—she couldn't ruin her image, so Luo Tang nodded calmly and naturally. "Hmm."
With her response, Su Yan placed his other arm under her knees and effortlessly lifted her into his arms.
As the person being carried, she couldn't be too stiff, so Luo Tang—just going with the flow—quietly wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
Afterward, except for the crisp ringing sound of shoes clicking against the marble, there was silence.
Su Yan seemed to know the stadium well, leading her through twists and turns, taking the elevator straight to the underground parking lot, and finally stopping in front of a car.
A two-seater sports car, understated in black. Before Luo Tang could even recognize the model, she was placed in the passenger seat.
Su Yan started the car and drove off, breaking the weirdly stiff after leaving the stadium: "Did you move?"
"...Yes," she took a moment to realize he was referring to her home from eight years ago, "About four or five years ago, we moved to Xian Bi."
Su Yan glanced at the road outside before turning the car around. "Hmm."
Xian Bi, formally known as Xian Bi Hao Ting, was built along the river. The Luo family lived in Qian’an Mansion until moving here five years ago. Its name was ethereal and luxurious, and it was fittingly the most expensive residential area in the city.
Luo Tang suddenly felt lost.
Everything seemed to flow smoothly from the moment they met due to her special situation and limited mobility.
However, once the past was mentioned, the things that are silently entangled with the smell and memory of the old days seemed impossible to hide any longer.
What made her more despondent was—Xian Bi, as the only luxurious villa area in the city center, was only a fifteen-minute drive from the Central Sports Stadium.
The sports car slowly stopped at the gate, and Luo Tang spoke first. "I just sent a message for someone to meet me at the gate. It's only a few steps away, you don't have to get out of the car. There are often people walking around this time."
Given his fame, being seen would inevitably cause a commotion.
Su Yan stopped unbuckling his seatbelt.
He hummed and pressed the button to unlock the car doors.
Luo Tang clicked open her seatbelt, opened the door, and got out, but she didn't immediately walk away. Instead, she turned back and called out to him again. "Su Yan."
"..."
He turned around, remaining silent.
The light from the street lamp outside shone on Luo Tang. She curved her lips, and a particularly bright smile bloomed her face. Clearly and sweetly, she said, "Happy Birthday, ah."
Su Yan was momentarily stunned, his Adam's apple moving slightly.
She seemed not to expect a response from him, her eyes still smiling as she waved. "I'm going now, bye."
She closed the car door with a "snap."
Su Yan had parked close to the gate. He watched her hop a few steps on one foot, enter the villa's gate code, and disappear entirely.
After a while, a short, soft laugh resounded in the car.
A week later, when Luo Tang's legs and feet were agile again, the night of the drama crew's kick-off banquet arrived.
Luo Tang thought it was just a pre-meeting casual gathering and planned to wear a simple t-shirt and pants, but Cheng Cheng picked her up and insisted she change into a slightly more formal dress, complete with accessories.
Stepping out of the car, Luo Tang saw the cluster of cameras in the distance and suddenly realized it was quite a formal occasion.
"What are you looking at?" A hand waved in front of her, followed by Cheng Cheng's voice: "Princess, this slave girl is not at the same table as you, but remember, eat more and talk less."
Luo Tang gave an "ok" sign.
Having attended countless banquets since childhood, the only difference this time was that she didn't know anyone.
Cheng Cheng briefed her in the car, but Luo Tang didn't remember who the lead actress and the male and female supporting actors were. Fortunately, no one recognized her, and they politely looked at each other. Passing the media area, she walked straight ahead without posing.
When she found a table with her name on it, she looked at the words "Luo Xiao Tang" and wanted to smile for some reason.
Five seconds later, her smile froze on her face.
"…Su Yan?"
Why...was Su Yan sitting next to Luo Xiao Tang?
Why why why?
Not the director, not the lead actress...but Luo Xiao Tang? What merit does Luo Xiao Tang have?!
Luo Tang, feeling the man's unavoidable gaze, began to wonder if she had told him about her quietly joining the crew of his drama.
It seemed...she hadn't.
She thought she had arrived early, but Su Yan was even earlier.
He still wore his tailored suit, the shirt collar slightly open, leaning back in his chair, looking at her with a half-smile. "So it's really you."
Luo Tang blinked, "Huh?"
"I thought someone else was actually named that..." Su Yan suddenly reached out, took the name card reading "Luo Xiao Tang" from her, and said slowly, "So I came over to check."
"…"
"It turns out there’s no one else."
So it's still you.
The person who had always used this name in middle school's mind went blank.
"You want to act." Su Yan stated as a matter of fact.
His slender fingers fiddled with the card, asking her deliberately, "Any particular reason?"
"…"
Luo Tang's throat suddenly felt dry.
The excuses she had smoothly used even with her intimidating parents now seemed stopped by some kind of poison in front of him.
"It's nothing special, just fun," lying to made her heart race. "Of all the careers out there, I think it must be fun to shoot a movie."
"..."
Su Yan’s hand paused.
People who knew her well were aware of her playful nature, making this reason quite believable.
The more silent the person she lied to became, the guiltier Luo Tang felt.
Feeling guilty, she wanted to find something to say and landed on reiterating her grand goal. "I really just want to be a low-profile supporting character, to experience being an actor."
As soon as she finished speaking, Luo Tang keenly observed Su Yan raise an eyebrow slightly: "Low-profile?"
"...Yes." What's wrong with that? Luo Tang nodded, not quite confidently. "Just someone completely unknown with no reputation at all."
Hearing this, Su Yan's lips curved up slightly.
It was not so obvious, but his thin lips formed a smile, his handsome profile looking unfairly attractive in the flickering light and shadow.
Normally, she could take hundreds of screenshots of his videos, but now, facing a real person even more handsome than on the phone, she couldn't maintain her sanity.
Thus, Luo Tang didn’t notice his gaze shift to her wrist.
Catching a glimpse of something shining, Su Yan initially glanced casually, but upon recognizing it, he abruptly paused.
Beside her slender, fair wrist was the radiant dial of a PATEK PHILIPPE watch. Though he couldn't identify the model at a glance, he recognized the traces of a VIP custom design.
Luo Tang waited for a moment, his sudden silence leaving her puzzled.
Did he...not believe her?
Or was it...that her purpose was too obvious, and he saw through it?
Lost in thought, Luo Tang was startled when Su Yan suddenly raised his eyes to meet her gaze.
"You use a pseudonym. You don't want your identity recognized. You want to be unknown," Su Yan's slow, seductive voice sounded like a persuasive teacher, "Right?"
Luo Tang was slightly stunned but agreed with his accurate summary: "...Yes."
Su Yan's long eyelashes drooped, his fingers lightly tapping her wrist, his voice laced with barely detectable amusement, "Then it's best not to wear millions on your wrist."
"........!"
Careless!
